The Top 100 Largest Employers
This is our 37th annual survey of the hiring plans of major national employers that recruit on college and university campuses for entry-level talent. The survey was conducted between November 1, 2011 and February 1, 2012. Survey forms were sent to past survey participants and to employers who recruit on college and university campuses. Employers were asked to estimate the number of full-time permanent position for which they are recruiting at both the bachelor’s and master’s degree levels, to give the number of campuses on which they plan to recruit, and to list the top 10 major they seek.
The results show that the top 100 employers are seeking to hire 48,407 recruit at the bachelor’s level, and 10,430 at the master’s level for a total of 58,837 opportunities. These 100 employers will make 6,586 recruiting visits.
The five largest employers are Enterprise Rent-A-Car recruiting for 8500 position, followed by Ernst & Young 5000; Air Force Civilian Services 5000; The Hertz Corporation 4,400; and Deloitte with 4199. The largest insurers are State Farm, Northwestern Mutual, Liberty Mutual, GEICO, Prudential and C N A The largest CPA firms are Ernst & Young, Deloitte and Grant Thornton. The largest government employers are Air Force Civilian Services, Naval Acquisition Career Center, U.S. State Department, the FDIC, and the Financial Management Career Program.
