Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, True North Hotel Group, Inc. The franchisee controls all aspects of the hotel's employment policies and practices, including the selection and hiring process. If you accept a position at this hotel you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International.

The General Manager has responsibilities to meet or exceed budget profit goals and to maintain the physical asset for the ownership. It will be the General Manager''s responsibility to maintain the brand''s standard SOPs. Previous Marriott experience a definite plus.

  • Yearly responsibility to develop, administer and control hotel revenues and expenses as approved by the ownership.
  • Analyze profit and loss statements. Bring line items within budget by making all necessary corrections to operational procedures. Monthly responsibility for a written report covering all variances in the operating budget.
  • Responsible for the physical assets of the hotel. This includes monitoring all maintenance repairs and alternations to the physical plant and continuing a strong preventive maintenance program.
  • Authorize direct bill accounts and monitor the administration of accounts receivables. Remember it is the General Manager's responsibility to collect all outstanding accounts.
  • Be knowledgeable of top and target accounts and participate in joint sales call. Review top and target accounts weekly call reports with sales staff.
  • Own the revenue management process by setting a revenue strategy for your hotel and holding those executing that strategy accountable to perform.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the hotel revenue management strategies with the FOM and DOS.
  • Annually review RFPs with your Director of Sales and FOM and complete for your brand.
  • Ensure proper selection, training, counseling and motivation of hourly associates. Hire, train, coach, counsel and motivate management associates according to brand's SOPs.
  • Ensure proper administration of company benefit programs to all hotel associates.
  • Review all hourly associates disciplinary procedures and documentation. Follow positive disciplinary steps, up to and including termination, to correct management associate performance deficiencies.
  • Respond and follow up on all written guest complaints with 24 hours. Utilize guest request complaint log to document and track performance deficiencies and guest special requests. Review log at EACH staff meeting.
  • Develop and maintain hotel programs to assure that brand's SOPs are met or exceeded.
  • Ensure all departments follow and adhere to safety policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook. Conduct monthly safety meetings and keep written minutes from these meetings.
  • It is the General Manager's responsibility to have a strong key control program in place throughout the hotel.
  • Good cash control procedures must be established and monitored.
  • Maintain an active and visible position in the local community and industry.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with competitor hotels, city convention and visitors bureaus, chambers of commerce, lead sources, clients, etc.
  • Conduct regular weekly staff meetings and attend weekly sales meetings. Be available to receive calls from the hotel on a 24-hour basis for emergencies.
  • Participate in the weekend MOD development program and host social hour, as requested.
  • All other duties assigned by the regional manager or vice president operations."
