Luz-Maria Lopez: Mayan Creation Stories

December 7, 2012 – February 23, 2013

Epic tales of hero twins and fantastical characters such as Grandmother of Light, Heart of Sky, Plumed Serpent, Crow, and Parrot plus a Chorus of animals, mudmen, woodmen, and human sounds reflect Mayan visions of cosmology.

Celebrate the life and work of self-taught African-American folk artist from Cane River, Louisiana, Clementine Hunter. Featuring highlights from AMoA’s Permanent Collection and rarely seen works from the private Collection of Iris Rayford.
