Our inclusive and transformative community seeks a High School Assistant Principal of Instruction for the 2018-19 school year.
Objective : STRIVE Prep Assistant Principals will create exceptional outcomes for scholars by implementing high quality school wide systems and leading procedures for school wide routines, as well as providing instructional coaching support for teachers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction :
Support the campus instructional coaching program in close coordination with the Principal.
Lead highly effective, regular instructional coaching meetings with teachers and teacher leaders that are informed by student data, student work and frequent classroom observations.
Consistently and effectively model revolutionary instruction and management strategies.
Meet regularly with Department Chair(s) to further develop his or her capacity to lead a positive and pro-active grade-level team.
Use data to drive instruction by creating and refining dashboards, conducting analysis, and collaborating with school leaders and teachers to facilitate meetings.

Culture :
Establish and execute systems and routines in order to create a safe, purposeful, and welcoming school environment.
Support the school-wide incentive and discipline systems, student events, and parental and community engagement opportunities.
Ensure that students are safe and maximize learning time by upholding school-wide behavioral expectations and supporting larger student discipline issues.
Plan and facilitate morning meetings that model excellent instruction and invest scholars in the STRIVE values.
Provide daily leadership during community gatherings that set the tone for academic program.
Communicate regularly and often with families to both solicit input and share student social and academic progress, while empowering teachers to do the same.
Assist with student recruitment and enrollment.

Development :
Participate in STRIVE Prep’s Summer Training Institute in July as well as professional development throughout the school year.
Attend and participate in weekly staff and grade level meetings.
Participate in regular instructional coaching meetings.

Minimum of three years of teaching experience in an urban setting (required) at the middle or high school level (strongly preferred).
Has experience in sheltered instruction and supporting diverse learners.
Holds at least a bachelor’s degree (required), and preferably an advanced degree.

In addition, we strongly prefer the following:
Minimum of one year of instructional coaching in math, ELA or science at the middle or high school level.
Speaks Spanish and/or has experience working with English Learners
Demonstrated success working with students of color
