Profile:	The Department of Biological Sciences consists of 18 full-time faculty members, 5 full-time staff. The department offers four undergraduate degrees as well as a MS and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences and Ph.D. in the interdisciplinary program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The current enrollment is approximately 250 undergraduate and 50 graduate students, of which over 60% are Ph.D. candidates. The Department’s faculty, graduate student, and research spaces are located in the Dow Environmental Sciences and Engineering Building and in the new Great Lakes Research Center (greatlakes.mtu.edu/). Michigan Tech is a publicly funded university, with a science/technology focus, located in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula. Currently 485 faculty members are engaged in over 30 academic programs with more than 5700 residential undergraduate students and a growing population of graduate students, currently numbering 1500.
